Systemwide Curtailment Watch for SoCalGas and SDG&E Issued
Notice Text
Effective 7:00 AM PCT January 26, 2026, and until further notice, SoCalGas is issuing a systemwide curtailment watch for the SoCalGas and SDG&E service territory.
Extremely cold temperatures are impacting large portions of the United States outside of California, from the Southern Rockies through the East Coast. These conditions have significantly increased natural gas demand and may result in upstream supply disruptions, including production impacts such as well freeze-offs in supply basins serving the SoCalGas and SDG&E system.
To maintain system reliability, SoCalGas storage facilities are at elevated utilization levels. Due to the combined effects of increased system demand and reduced on-system gas supplies, system conditions may become increasingly constrained during this period.
Noncore customers may be required to reduce or stop their natural gas use per SoCalGas Rule 23 and SDG&E Rule 14.
SoCalGas and SDG&E urge customers to align their usage with their deliveries. Customers should continue to monitor Envoy for further updates.
