Spruce Hill Air Blending Wobbe Control Force Majeure
Colorado Interstate Gas Company, L.L.C. (CIG) has experienced an equipment failure at its Spruce Hill Air Blending facility. The VFD on one of the two air compression trains, which are used to compress and blend air into the interconnecting pipeline for Wobbe number control, has failed and needs to be replaced.
Effective Gas Day January 6, 2026 and until further notice, CIG is declaring a Force Majeure because of this failure pursuant to Section 11.5 of the General Terms and Conditions (GT&C) of the Second Revised Volume No. 1 of CIG's FERC Gas Tariff (Tariff).
Pursuant to GT&C Section 3.5 of its Tariff, CIG operates air blending facilities, including the Spruce Hill Air Blending Facility, to control the Wobbe numbers stated in the Tariff. The interconnecting party at Spruce Hill has requested natural gas from CIG's mainline upstream of the currently limited Spruce Hill Air Blending Facility. The natural gas from Line 212A flowing through the reduced air blending capability of Spruce Hill blending will result in a Wobbe number of 1,320 or less until the Spruce Hill Air Blending Facility is repaired and returns to service, or the interconnecting party discontinues its request from Line 212A. Based on the nature of the operation at Spruce Hill, it is possible small volumes of the higher Wobbe gas could spill into CIG's 9A Valley Line. In that event, those volumes will have negligible impact to the overall Wobbe number of gas delivered to other customers served from the Valley Line. CIG will provide updates as warranted.
